Why does my baby scratch?
We have a 4 month old little girl, and she is a delight. We've noticed that when we lay her down to sleep, she starts scratching at her cradle mattress. She doesn't really scratch herself intentionally, just her mattress. After a few minutes, she's asleep. She's not crying or anything else. Just scratching. Also, there are no apparent skin irritations, although we do wash it with a very mild detergent a couple times a week.
No skin irritations where? On the mattress. You say she is not scratching herself, just the mattress so how do you even think about itchy? Mattress have no feeling. She is probably just checking the thing out, baby's love to pull, poke, grab, scratch, etc.
