Natural Wood Trim Increase Value of House?
I've lived in city apartments with painted wood trim and I couldn't stand not knowing what it looked like with the natural wood. I now own a home that was built in 1922 and have stripped a small portion in the extra bedroom to see what it looks like - I think it's beautiful, but I have to remove paint and stain and sand and refinish - does natural wood add any equity to the home? I'll probably do the labor anyway for personal preference, but is that what VALUE is - personal preference?
It's not lead paint - only one coat of paint and the latex cans are in the basement and I don't think lead was ever in wood stain right?
Natural wood trim was big in the 80's, but not much anymore. In a house that was built in 1922, it may look natural and still hold value if it looks origional from that era. Consult a real estate agent who would have the best answer for you in your market.
