I have a baby girl, and my cousin just sent me a BIG bunch of clothes for her to wear when she hits the older baby/toddler stage. (She's only 4 months now). Most of the clothes are either 24 months or 2T, 3T, and 4T. What is the difference between the clothes marked 24 months (which is two years, obviously) and the ones marked 2T...I thought 2T meant a two-year-old....I need help!

Sometimes they are the same but usually if you are looking at the same item and they have 24 months and 2T, the 2T will be bigger. Its quite stupid actually because they should be the same thing. But I have found that 24 months is usually designed for a large baby (my one year old wears it) and 2T is usually designed for an average/small toddler. So sometimes you will find that a shirt may still button between the legs in 24 months but be a normal shirt in 2T and up (for instance, Kmart's brand Small Wonders does this with their shirts). So while it varies from brand to brand 2T is generally a bit larger.

You will see that baby/kids clothing sizes are so stupid you just need to guess and try stuff on her. My daughter is 16 months and has clothes ranging in her closet that fit her perfectly including 12 months, 18 months, 24 months, 2T, and even a couple 3T shirts. Now does that make sense to you at all?!

Swaddling, the practice of wrapping an infant in snug blankets, has been practiced for millennia. After using the bassinet, how often does your baby sleep in the crib?

I am expecting my baby soon and my friends are telling me that the crib was a waste of money. After the baby grew out of the bassinet, they end up sleeping in the bed with them. I have a small apartment and I'm wondering do I need to get the crib or a really big bassinet. Help!

this is really your decison. Your baby deserves it's own crib. and the bassinet in your room is until you feel comfortable having the baby sleep in his or her own room. My opinion, Get the crib, but for space saving reasons, do not set it up until your ready to move the baby out of your room.
As for sleeping in bed with you. that is very touchy subject. Some people are so against it, with so many risks..but when faced with a child who won't sleep unless it is in bed with you change..It is dangerous to an extent, some parents are careless in doing so. So bottom line, I say get the crib, set it up when ready, have baby sleep in the bassinet till your ready to move him/her to the crib. you willrun out of space with all the baby gear other than the crib anyways! having yard sale need help pricing some items please.......?

ok having a yard sale in am to clean the attic and make some cash. i have :
a dell all in one printer a920 or something like that. used for one year.
ski's(they are my husbands) he said 8 years ago he paid $800.
rollerblades- worn once. over $200 new, around 8 years old now.
used bassinett- i bought this a year ago at consignment shop for $30. i will be throwing in some bassinett sheets to go with it. my child never slept in the darn thing...
2 ends to potterybarn spindle crib- this is the blue one really nice- you see my ends chipped alittle, so potterybarn gave me new ones to go with my ok side rails, but i have the slightly chipped ends. whole crib retails for $500.( hey i'm guessing $5 here..)

Here in Santa Cruz Ca. $10.00 printer, maybe $15-$20 if you have it set up & working_ski's if in perfect condition $75.00_bassinett $10.00_crib ends $15.00(they'll likely be hard to sell as anyone who can afford a $500.00 crib may not be willing to waste time looking at yard sales for such an obscure & unlikely item unless you mention it in a newspaper ad for your sale)_.50/each onesie, maybe 3 for $1.00 _rollerblades $25.00 -$40.00depending on condition & if with box. Hope that helps.If you find things moving slowly, check whether you are over OR underpriced. Maybe call around to a few neighbors or someone in your area who lives a lot buying at yard sales. Just don't try to charge Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift store prices-if it's like our area here, they are way overpriced & you won't do well.You probably know this, but remember to put signs with date & time a few days prior & clear directions to the sale (arrows) along the way. 3) If you are using a combo unit (car seat and stroller together), always double check to be sure that the car seat latches in properly.

4) Always make sure the brake is in good working order. Regularly check all cables and pads, or latches to be sure they are working well and are free of any obstructions or dirt.

5) Be sure to check the wheels for problems and make sure that they are in good condition. This doesn't take much. Just be sure they are all working well, aren't wobbling too much and aren't wearing out.

6) OK, this may sound obvious, but always be sure all wheels are on tight. Some models of strollers - especially jogging baby strollers - have removable wheels. You need to be sure they are always secure before heading out. I once saw a woman tip her jogging stroller back to go over a curb and watched the front wheel take off down the hill after it fell off.

General Use

7) Most newer strollers come with many storage areas. Some of the largest are usually at the back. Be sure you do not overload these. It is really easy for an overloaded stroller to tip over backwards and toss your baby out!

Don't load heavy items on top of your child while they are in the stroller.

9) The same goes for hot drinks and such. Never leave hot drinks above your child on the stroller. The last thing your child needs is a 1/2 litre of screaming hot mocha java in the face!

10) Finally, never, ever, leave your child unattended in a stroller. This doesn't mean you have to be no more than a foot away at all times. Just be sure that either you, or another responsible adult (not child) is within easy reach at all times.

Keep these tips in mind as you go about your daily business and use your stroller. It will keep your children safer and give you more peace of mind.

What are the best/inexpensive baby gates for the top and bottom of stairs?

I need a total of 4 baby gates and from what I have looked at they are so expensive. I need 2 for the top of the stairs and 2 for the bottom of the stairs. Any suggestions please!

My cousin took an ordinary wooden baby gate (something current) and modified it himself with wood to attach it directly to the wall for the top of the stairs. He made something better than what you can buy.

For reasons I don't understand, I have not seen a baby gate at a garage sale in many years, so I can't suggest that you go there.
