Step #4.. How do you want to decorate the room? What theme do you want? Of course, it's handy to know ahead of time what gender your pride and joy will be so you can decorate the room with the appropriate colors. However, many parents like the mystery of not knowing so when choosing a color for the room, be neutral. Colors such as green and yellow will work well if you don't know the baby's gender.

Another wonderful piece of baby furniture that has staying power is a combination dresser that features drawers for clothing and a side door for storage (think diapers, creams, toys, etc.). Features include back and side rails for the diaper changing area, however it doesn't look like your stereotypical changing table and can be used for years in a child's room.

Keeping safety, color, style, usability, and flexibility in mind when choosing baby nursery furniture will serve you and your little one well as he grows. Identifying your child's current bedroom furniture needs and looking toward future needs can be more efficient and cost-effective in the long run.
